The majority of wood used in the cabinet came from the seats of church pews salvaged from a landmark New Haven, Connecticut church. The counter top material is 300 - 400 year old eastern white pine which was re-milled from a large barn beam found in Canada
There is a vast inventory of recycled wood available today, but only a small percent can be qualified as “cabinet grade”. For nearly thirty years we have been collecting cabinet grade recycled wood for work at the level of this cabinet

Cabinets of this scale are constructed in three separate units, a base, top, and the cornice. This makes for easier handling, shipping and set-up.

This image shows the detail in the cornice. All moldings are custom made in our wood shop from cabinet grade recycled antique lumber.

This image shows the delicate fluting on the corner of the lower face frame.
Our face frames are hand-built in the true mortise & tenon method.
